Install ChatCut for AI Agents

View as Markdown

Claude Code, Codex, WorkBuddy and other AI agents edit videos in ChatCut Desktop. You describe the result in the agent app; ChatCut shows the real timeline, and you can adjust it yourself at any time.

Install ChatCut for Claude Code, Codex or another agent

ChatCut Desktop runs on your computer: macOS 13 or newer (Apple Silicon or Intel) or Windows 10 or newer (x64). Linux is not supported yet. Start a new conversation in your agent app on that computer, then paste and send:

Command

Read ChatCut.io/desktop to install ChatCut

The agent reads the installation guide and runs the official installer, which needs no Node.js or npm. The installer reuses a current ChatCut, installs or updates it otherwise, and opens it. ChatCut then connects itself to Claude Code, Codex, WorkBuddy and the other agents it finds on the computer.

Sign in and continue in a new conversation

  1. Sign in inside ChatCut if it asks.
  2. Start a new conversation in your agent and send your request again. Agents load ChatCut’s tools when a conversation starts, so the installation conversation does not get them.
  3. If the new conversation has no ChatCut tools, you have most likely not signed in yet. Sign in inside ChatCut, then start another conversation; reinstalling does not help.

For another MCP host, open Agents on this computer → Connect any agent in ChatCut and follow its setup prompt. See Edit a Desktop Project from Your Agent.

Remake a video

Give the agent the source video and what to replace, for example a person or a product. It uses ChatCut’s bundled video-gen Skill and submit_video_remake. Remakes need a ChatCut membership: the agent checks your access and credits, and confirms the length and estimated cost before it generates anything.

Web plugin for existing Web projects

To continue a project in ChatCut Web, or if you explicitly want the hosted Web editor, use the Web plugin instead. It connects the same agents to ChatCut Web, where the editor opens in the agent’s Browser panel.
